Colours that become popular in the fashion world are often reliable indicators of the colours that will eventually pop-up in home interiors. Barbiecore and the pink aesthetic have been trending since 2022 and now that the new Barbie movie is out, we can’t escape it! So, how can we embrace it?
Here at CurtainStudio, we love pink! It’s feminine, uplifting and versatile with all of its different shades. While the iconic Barbie shade is bright and vibrant, you can always choose a shade that complements your current aesthetic more to ensure longevity. Let’s take a look at ways you can incorporate pink into each room of your home.
1. BedroomOur favourite place to embrace pink has to be the bedroom. This is your personal space that should make you feel happy and joyful and what better colour to do this than pink? A great way to add this to your bedroom is through the use of accent pieces. Items like duvet covers, cushions, curtains and rugs are fun and can be switched out seasonally.
2. BathroomMost of us have plain bathrooms full of white, grey and black, making it the perfect opportunity to add a splash of colour. Try adding some pink, fluffy towels or a pink bath mat for something functional and on-theme.
3. Kids roomIf your child is a Barbie fan, their room is probably already decked out in pink. You can find plenty of Barbie branded items on the market that will bring joy and excitement to your little one’s life. If you’d like a more subtle approach to the pink theme for your kids’ room, dusty pink is a beautiful soft shade that is suitable for every age. Consider using it in the form of bedding, décor or by painting the bookshelf.
Another great way to add pink without the colour overwhelming the room is through window furnishings.
We have some gorgeous fabric choices for children’s rooms that you can have made into curtains or blinds, like this Freckles fabric in the colour ‘Fairy’. This will give your child a beautiful pink backdrop when closed but it won’t be too bold at all times.

4. OfficeEstablishing an inspiring space where you can be productive is important for those who work from home. Pink is the perfect colour to add positivity to your home office. If your desk faces a wall, consider painting a block of pink behind your desk. If you can’t paint your wall, you can hang artwork, use temporary decals or wallpaper. If your home office has a window, adding some pink sheer curtains is a great way to incorporate pink while diffusing sunlight and providing daytime privacy while you work.

5. Guest roomThe guest room is your free ticket to lean into Barbiecore. This is the room that you can make a bold statement with pink wallpaper or pink furniture such as side tables, ottomans and armchairs. When using pink in this way, it's important to balance it out with other neutral colours such as white to create a cohesive look. Your guests will love having a room infused with fun and flair.
6. Living roomBeing one of the largest rooms in the home, the living room is a great canvas for your interior style to truly shine. It is the perfect space to put a statement piece of furniture like a pink couch, rug or piece of art. Remember it doesn’t have to be Barbie pink; it can be soft pink, pastel pink, rose pink, blush pink. The options are endless and you can mix and match different shades in one room.
7. Kitchen and dining roomThe kitchen is the heart of the home and many people’s hub of creativity so there’s no doubt that pink would look add more energy to this room. While many of our appliances are available in pink, there are also easier and more affordable alternatives. Consider switching out your tea, coffee and sugar tins or getting a few funky pink cocktail glasses.
For your dining room we love the look of a pink rug beneath your table or a pink vase for your flowers.
Pink is one of our favourite colours and we are so excited to see it gain popularity again. How are you going to incorporate pink into your home? If you would like window furnishings for any room in your home, get in touch with us for a free consultation and expert design advice.
