Curtain Studio is proud to partner with The Dressing Room, an immersive fashion and art installation presented by Tees for a Cure in support of Breast Cancer Cure, at the NZICC in Auckland. As a brand inspired by fabric, design and transforming spaces, we were delighted to contribute 887 metres of Curtain Studio fabric to help bring this creative installation to life.

Curtain Studio is incredibly proud to be a partner of The Dressing Room, an immersive fashion and art installation presented by Tees for a Cure in support of Breast Cancer Cure, at the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) in Auckland.

As a business built around fabric, design and transforming spaces, and our long-standing support of Breast Cancer Cure, this was a partnership that felt particularly special to us. To help bring the creative vision for The Dressing Room to life, Curtain Studio donated 887 metres of fabric, finished into 189 drops to help create the 26 individual dressing rooms within the installation.

That is enough fabric to stretch approximately 2.7 times the height of Auckland’s Sky Tower.

Seeing a fabric, we work with every day that ends up in thousands of our customers’ homes every year, used on such an impressive scale — and for such an important cause — is something we are extremely proud to be part of.

887 Metres of Fabric Bringing The Dressing Room to Life

Fabric has the ability to completely transform a space. At Curtain Studio, we see this every day through curtains, blinds and soft furnishings that add texture, movement, colour and personality to New Zealand homes. For The Dressing Room, fabric takes on an entirely different role.

Our donation of fabric has helped form part of the immersive environment that visitors experience as they move through the installation, supporting the scale, texture and visual impact of the creative concept.

The Dressing Room features a striking three-story, neon-lit scaffold structure alongside an 18-metre corridor showcasing artwork from leading New Zealand fashion designers.

With such a bold vision, a significant amount of material was required to turn the concept into a physical experience. We were delighted to be able to contribute our fabric, knowledge and resources to help make that vision a reality.

For the installation, we used Studio – Lyon in Ivory, a soft sheer fabric, alongside our Rhino Imperial lining in Pearl. Both fabrics are fire-rated, making them suitable for use within the large-scale public installation while also delivering the softness, movement and finish needed to bring The Dressing Room to life.

Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month This October

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, making this month an especially meaningful time for Curtain Studio to support Breast Cancer Cure.

Alongside our sponsorship of The Dressing Room, we are extending our support throughout October with another initiative close to the heart of our business.

For every metre of custom lining purchased from Curtain Studio during October, we will donate $1 to Breast Cancer Cure.

Lining is an important part of many of the custom curtains we create, helping with privacy, insulation, light control and the overall finish of a window treatment. This October, every metre purchased will also help contribute to breast cancer research in New Zealand.

It means that customers choosing custom curtains during Breast Cancer Awareness Month can be part of the cause too, simply through a decision they may already be making for their home.

Together, our 887 metre fabric donation to The Dressing Room and our $1-per-metre custom lining donation throughout October reflect our commitment to supporting Breast Cancer Cure in a way that is closely connected to our values and importance of giving back to our communities.
