Curtain lining plays an essential role in enhancing the functionality of curtains and can provide many benefits.
A good quality lining can protect the curtains from sunlight and UV rays, which can cause fading and damage to the fabric over time. It can also provide an extra layer of insulation, keeping the room warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, which can help you save on your energy bills. A lining can improve the privacy of your home by blocking out more light and reducing outside noise.
We have a range of linings with fabric types to suit all your requirements.
The first is the Ambient, a polycotton, entry-level, and our most affordable lining. This lining is lightweight and works well behind a really thick fabric or for someone who has double-glazed windows and wants some added privacy. With Ambient, it does pay to be careful about wet/damp areas, as this lining doesn’t have any anti-mildew properties in it.
The second in our range is the Synergy 1-pass. This lining is the most popular for use in living areas. It offers good insulation as it is a thermal lining. This lining is lightweight and gives good structure to any drape. Although this lining features anti-mildew properties, it does let a little bit of light through, making it ideal for living spaces but not so much for bedrooms.
The next step up in lining is the Synergy 4-pass Blockout, which is a favourite in bedrooms or where your wanting to create full blockout. The 4-pass Blockout is a 4-layer lining with a black layer in the middle to block out light. This lining also provides great structure for draping and stacks nicely. It can be paired with a sheer or curtain fabric and is our most effective lining for insulation and reducing heating costs.
New to our range Imperial Lining is the ideal choice when looking for a sustainable, reliable, and high-performance solution. Perfect for everyday use, it ensures both style and function, making it the ultimate choice for your next project.
What makes Imperial truly stand out is its silicone-coated backing, which not only enhances its mould resistance but also offers the ability to wipe away any condensation or water that may form on windows, making it more effective at preventing mould growth than other linings in our core range. This silicone-coated blockout lining offers an exceptional combination of a selection of 5 on trend colours, thermal insulation, light-blocking, and noise reduction, providing optimal performance and comfort.
Our Synergy & Imperial linings come in different widths and can be used in a variety of ways. One thing they all have in common is excellent structure, which helps curtains drape beautifully. These linings are ideal for Roman blinds or anything that requires a more structured look.
Lastly our Triple-Weave or “Sunout” linings are fully machine washable (only if on a separate track at the back on their own). These linings come in different colours, making them an ideal choice for matching to the colour of a very light sheer.
The most significant difference between the two types of coloured linings is the way they drape: Triple-Weave linings won’t give you as much structure as the Imperial Silicon, but they will create much fuller curtains.
