Breast cancer is a disease that affects millions of people worldwide, including thousands of women in New Zealand. It is the most common cancer among women globally, and while great strides have been made in its treatment, there is still much work to be done. One organisation that we are proud to be partnering with is Breast Cancer Cure.
Breast Cancer Cure is a New Zealand-based charity dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer. The organisation was founded in 1997, an initiative of a breast surgeon and a core group, working with scientists to initiate novel research. Since then the charity has worked tirelessly to raise funds for research that aims to improve the outcomes for breast cancer patients. This encompasses advancements in early detection methods, enhanced diagnosis and prognosis, more precise and less invasive therapies, and an overall improvement in the quality of life and chance of survival. There is also a focus on enhancing equitable access to treatment for all women.
With no direct Government funding, Breast Cancer Cure relies on the generosity of everyday Kiwi’s to fund its essential work. The organisation runs a range of fundraising campaigns and events throughout the year including Fashion for a Cure and Tees for a Cure which have now become nationally recognised. The funds raised have already led to significant progress in breast cancer research and treatment. With continued support from the community, the organisation can continue to make a real difference to the lives of those affected by breast cancer.
Curtain Studio proudly supports Breast Cancer Cure through annual fundraising initiatives with the generous support of our friends at Maurice Kain. Our partnership has raised over $98,000 towards helping to find a cure for breast cancer.
Our commitment goes beyond raising funds — we want to raise awareness. Did you know that 1 in 9 women in New Zealand will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime? This places us with the 7th highest incidence of breast cancer in the world. It's important to remember that men can also develop breast cancer. We want to encourage conversations about breast health and provide support to anyone affected by this disease.
We are proud to continue contributing to Breast Cancer Cure’s important work toward finding a cure for breast cancer. To learn more about their mission or get involved, visit the Breast Cancer Cure website.
